About Kaiun Wellness
Kaiun (開運) is a Japanese word that means “opening a path to good fortune” or “inviting positive change.” It comprises two characters:
• Kai (開) – to open
• Un (運) – luck, fortune, or destiny
At Kaiun Wellness, we believe that healing, clarity, and transformation begin when we take courageous steps to open ourselves to change. Fortune and destiny, in this sense, are not passive. We create them through intention, reflection, and support.
Our team
We are Katherine and Heather, and we started Kaiun Wellness together to provide an integrated approach to whole-body healing by offering a range of wellness resources under one roof. We support individuals in embracing a healthier, more fulfilling path.

Katherine is fascinated by the mind-body connection and keenly aware of the brain’s ability to help or hinder the connection with one’s physical, mental, and emotional strength. Katherine’s approach to counseling is to listen, see, and connect with her clients. Honor Weihe, LMHCA
Honor joins Kaiun Wellness as a mental health counselor for teens, parents and families. She is supervised by Dr. Katherine Nordell Fort.
Honor aims to guide clients through conversations that are nonjudgemental, nurturing and empowering that include humor, mindfulness, and challenge.
Honor brings over a decade of experience working with youth and families in K-12 public, private and international classroom settings. After working as a school counselor in the high school setting Honor was taken back by the high levels of anxiety and stress students were experiencing as a result of family changes, academic challenges and social conflicts. Honor uses an integrative counseling approach that acknowledges the diverse needs of young people and helps guide them towards deeper understanding of themselves.
In her own words:
The practice of self-care involves giving active attention to the relationship you have with yourself and creating time and space in your daily life to nurture this connection. I believe that therapy is self-care.
In my work, I see that the current medical model has forgotten about the mental, physical and spiritual needs of our youth and families. I am deeply concerned about the ongoing disconnectedness we are experiencing as a society today. I wonder about the well-being of new mothers and the impact that parenthood has on their behavior. I wonder about how teens and young adults are coping with isolation and how that effects their career goals and partner choices. I wonder about the health of families, both expectant parents and long-time parents and whether the constant comparisons are making parents feel burnt out and on edge. I wonder if anyone is actually taking care of themselves the way they want to.
Without making space to process our experiences, we end up feeling resigned, forgotten or jaded. My therapeutic approach is grounded in the idea that when we take care of ourselves, we are also taking care our families and our communities.
It is in the slowing down that we find out what we truly need to grow.
This work has changed my life. As a person who has survived sexual assault, domestic abuse and tragic grief, I understand how difficult it can be to seek out support. Feeling alone in your pain is a normal reaction. Seeing a therapist allowed me to care for myself and gain a deeper understanding of my identity and how I can play a role in my own healing over time.
My aim as your therapist is to offer a place for processing your experience, sharing your feelings, gaining tools for better boundaries and goal-setting for a future that nurtures your WHOLE-being. Whether you are just starting high school or transitioning towards retirement, I have a series of approaches that will open your mind to what’s possible for your life.
I love this work and I believe that a holistic whole-body-mind-soul approach is what leads to lifelong healing and balance.

Gee Mi L. Jorde
Gee Mi joins Kaiun Wellness as a counseling intern and is supervised by Dr. Katherine Nordell Fort. Gee Mi is a student at Northwestern University, where she will receive her MA in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness in January 2027.
In her own words:
I understand the struggles of life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma and grief. Through therapy, we will work through the complexities to cultivate inner peace and the confidence to navigate life’s challenges. Recognizing today’s unique modern day stressors (e.g., attention economy, cancel culture, etc.), my goal is to provide a safe and compassionate environment to engage and reflect on your personal journey. Through a holistic approach, we can work towards developing healthy thought patterns and emotional regulation.
As a half-Korean and half-Scandinavian growing up in Japan, I learned to embrace cultural humility from an early age. Meanwhile, my decade of experience across both the military and management consulting offered firsthand insight into the generational and societal challenges that women, in particular, face. In my free time, I enjoy spending time in nature, reading and practicing yoga.
