March Newsletter
Welcome to our first newsletter!
Welcome to the very first Kaiun Monthly. We’re Kaiun Wellness, a values-driven holistic wellness and therapy practice rooted in the belief that mind, body, and relationship health are deeply connected. Our name comes from a Japanese word meaning “opening the way,” and that’s exactly what we aim to do: create space for growth, balance, and sustainable healing. Each month, we’ll share reflections, updates, and resources that support whole-person wellness and intentional living. We’re glad you’re here.
We just closed out February, which was National Heart Month, and we want to underscore the well-established connection between cardiovascular health and stress regulation. Prolonged stress activates physiological responses that can contribute to elevated blood pressure, inflammation, and disrupted sleep, all of which affect heart health over time. Evidence-informed approaches highlighted in the following articles support stress management and promote both cardiovascular and emotional well-being:

Spinach Pancakes (super yummy!)
Ingredients:
1 C packed fresh spinach (1.5 oz)
1 C buttermilk
1 large egg
1 tbsp canola oil
1 C white whole-wheat flour
1 Tbs sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
Butter
Directions: In a blender, combine spinach, buttermilk, egg and oil until smooth (~30 sec). In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Whisk wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Grease a large skillet with butter and heat on medium, pouring about 1 tbsp of the batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook for about 2 min per pancake, turning once.
Makes 30 pancakes.
We highly recommend “Stolen Focus” by journalist Johann Hari.
If you’ve ever thought your attention span was degrading - or already degraded - this book shows that you’re not alone. Through an engaging, research-packed exploration, Hari describes how the world (and not just you) has collectively lost its ability to focus. But perhaps more importantly, he offers individual and collective ways to fix it. Every reader is bound to leave with actionable takeaways.
BI Parks & Trails Foundation just announced a new trail opening: Vincent Road to Gazzam Lake. Learn more here!
We heard about this new trail opening up and wanted to check it out in order to recommend it to you…but…we had a hard time finding it! We took some great snaps and as usual, found this area to be especially restorative after the recent news about the Middle East. We invite you to take a search for the new trail and even if you don’t find it (let us know if you do!), we think you’ll have a great experience nonetheless.
